Allegiance

$12.99

When the performing arts and arts teams studied this passage in preparation for Urbana, we found it’s so deep and so serious that to translate it into a five-minute sketch seemed nearly impossible. During an improv exercise we tried out the idea of a couple of friends talking another out of following through on the master’s command to “…trade with it [a mina] because I am coming back”. We ended up with dark comedy, a piece that challenges us to consider risky, costly allegiance to the King.

This sketch requires two comic actors and a straight player (Rachel can be shifted to a male actor if needed) plus an extra to serve coffee at the start. For the funniest spend time developing character and well-coordinated movement.
